A pole vault contest

Each hypothesis is like a contestant in a pole vault contest.  The cross bar can represent many things.  For example, the height of the cross bar can represent the various evidence collected. The pole-vaulter who can jump over the cross bar represents the hypothesis that successfully explains the totality of evidence and becomes the most probable explanation. etc. etc. (Scroll down and over to see the complete chart and especially Step 4).
